Walmart to Introduce New Unlimited Shipping Service

This summer, Walmart will introduce a new unlimited shipping service similar to Amazon Prime, but for only about half the price.

The new as-of-yet unnamed service from Walmart will not offer audio and video streaming like its competition, but it does promise delivery times of three days or less. It’s currently in its testing phase, available by invitation only for about a million products to start with. As opposed to Amazon, the system will be able to integrate with Walmart’s 4,000+ brick-and-mortar stores in the U.S.

What does this mean for big online retailers as well as 3PLs and e-commerce order fulfillment providers? Simply, the demand for e-commerce keeps growing at a rapid pace, and so does the demand for very fast order fulfillment and shipping. As a logistics provider serving the entire United States, TAGG has always stayed one step ahead of demand by utilizing the best practices and the latest tools available at our disposal.

In this case, Walmart’s endeavor will be a difficult one, but not at all far-fetched. Retailers and 3PLs alike are already tested with huge logistical challenges every day, so the challenge will most likely instead come from pricing and competition.
